Who: Explosions in the Sky at the Outdoor Theatre
In 3 or Fewer Words: No words necessary.
Memorable Because: While the clouds slightly wept during the Dear Hunter’s exquisite set earlier in the day, a set from Explosions in the Sky automatically commanded the sky to break open and pelt us with rain (but only slightly harder than before) so each note splashed on to skins for a religious experience. Aside from introducing themselves and saying thanks afterward, not a single word came from the band and not many others dared to interrupt that silence. Every crash, pluck, strum and thud swelled and so did the lights, which reminded those of us who had completely forgotten about the rain. It was a cinematic pleasure that had pushed surrealism to its limit.
What I’d Tell My Friends Who Were at M83: Different types of out-of-body experiences nearing the midnight hour.
