Coachella 2012: Tijuana Panthers, gutsy at breakfast

Who: Tijuana Panthers in the Mohave Tent
In 3 or Fewer Words: Long Beach breakfast.
Memorable Because: While most Coachella campers were just stumbling out of their sleeping bags, a chill breeze blew through the Mojave tent, palm trees swayed to and fro, and Long Beach’s Tijuana Panthers treated early morning risers to a golden set of surf-rock gems. You could almost taste the Corona and smell the salt water. This happens every year: a proven SoCal act gets barrel rolled into a set time too early in the day to prove anything to hardly anyone. “Don’t Shoot Your Guns” could have sent a whole tent twisting away, if only Goldenvoice gave it the chance. (It’s time for a small Locals Only stage on the festival grounds, maybe in the food terrace?) It’s a shame this groovy, gutsy performance was lost to morning tides.
What I’d Tell My Editor Who Was Too Busy Updating Buzzbands.la To Catch The Set: The early buzz catches the wave.
