Coachella 2012: Squeeze, fresh as they’ve ever been

0

Who: Squeeze in the Mojave Tent
In 3 or Fewer Words: Fresh squeezed.
Memorable Because: At 54, Glenn Tilbrook materialized with the Facial Hair of the Festival, which is saying something considering Coachella’s profusion of beardos. His wavy, coiffed chin hair was long, but not nearly as lengthy as the string of hits the London-bred five-piece bounced through in 45 minutes, sounding more like U.K.’s next boy wonders than a band that released its first album in 1978. Every young guitarist trying to do something a bit different with six strings should have been there. All Squeeze’s hits turned up, including “Black Coffee in Bed” and “Goodbye Girl,” with a raw take on “Tempted” inspiring a big sing-along. One of Coachella’s annual nods to classic acts, Squeeze did not waste its moment.
What I’d Tell My Friends Who Were at St. Vincent: She does have better skin.
