Who: Lissie at the Outdoor Theatre
In 3 or Fewer Words: Her star’s rising.
Memorable Because: Lissie is the kind of Midwestern gal you want to take home to meet mom and dad, and then maybe introduce her to your high school buddies, and then, hell, brag to your whole hometown that you’re just on a first-name basis with her. Her unblinking classic Americana worked well in the bright sunshine of the Outdoor Theatre, even though it was no place for a fair-skinned true blonde, even one playing barefoot. She has an album coming in September, and the healthy crowd heard and loved a lot of it, her honeyed vocals dancing around the tasteful guitar leads from Eric Sullivan. And, yes, she proclaimed, she too was looking forward to watching Dr. Dre and Snoop that evening. “You know me,” she said, “same old G.”
