I have seen Alfred Darlington perform live and I know the colors in this video to be accurate. Or maybe I was just imagining them. Whatever, Darlington, stage name Daedelus, just released this Eli Stonberg-directed video for his song “LA Nocturn,” from a split EP he did on the new label Friends of Friends with L.A.’s Jogger (it’s accompanied by a T-shirt designed by Kozyndan). If you’re fascinated by the Tuxedoed One, or the music box called the Monome that the sound collagist uses, I highly recommend the piece XLR8R did with him. Daedelus will be performing at Coachella.
Love this new song by the Monthlies called “Hip Girl.” The song appears on their new album, “Monthlies, Assemble!” The video was directed by Sabrina Noel Hill and features Erin Armstrong (My Imaginary Friends), as well as cameos by members of several other local bands. The Monthlies celebrate their album release with a show Wednesday at the Viper Room.
Seeing the Voyeurs live is the cure for common drowsiness. The video for the duo’s “The Night I Died” hints at that energy, only in bright colors. It’s the directorial debut of music photographer Benjamin Hoste and features Jonathan Hylander and Sean Johnson giving it their all. The song is from their nifty release “Well Known Drag,” which came out in January.
