Video premiere: The Dig, ‘Animal Screams’ Kevin Bronson on June 18th, 2012 Share this:TweetEmail 0 New York City-based quartet the Dig jumped onto our radar in 2010 (thanks for the recommendation, Henry Clay People) with an album the freshest-sounding power-pop in years, “Electric Toys.” The band – childhood friends David Baldwin and Emile Mosseri, along with California native Erick Eiser and drummer Mark Demiglio – did it right: crisp guitars, crisper harmonies and mood-altering keyboards. Those were heady, hooky days, but on their new album “Midnight Flowers” (which came out in late May), the Dig dug deeper. They’ve warped, scuffed and elevated their pop sensibilities into indie-rock that’s going for longer attention spans, and they hit the mark most of the time. The Dig – who will be spending the month of July in Los Angeles – can be fizzy and fuzzed-out, but, as the video for “Animal Screams” shows, they can also nail those moments of sublime intimacy. ||| Download/stream: “I Already Forgot Everything You Said” and “Red Rose in the Cold Winter Ground” (use the widget after the jump to get the downloads): ||| Live: The Dig play every Wednesday in July at the Silverlake Lounge.
