Shiny Toy Guns have come full circle. The synth-rock quartet, which took off after Oklahoma songwriters/producers Jeremy Dawson and Chad Petree recruited singer Carah Faye Charnow out of high school in Newbury Park, was one of the first big MySpace sensations, their single “Le Disko” eventually becoming omnipresent on rock radio after Indie 103.1 championed it in the middle part of last decade. But amid much drama Charnow departed the band after its debut “We Are Pilots” and moved to Sweden. STG’s second album in 2008 was the more guitar-heavy “Season of Poison,” featuring Sisely Treasure on vocals. Now, after a long process that involved Dawson and drummer Mikey Martin traveling to Sweden to talk things out, Charnow rejoined the band and they have made “III,” due Oct. 23 on Five Seven Music. The quartet not only returns its preening, synth-laden approach, but Charnow is now part of the band’s songwriting circle – the first single “Waiting Alone” was a team effort, with Charnow and Petree trading vocals. “The beauty of everything is that we somehow reconciled and it wasn’t just to make a record,” Dawson says. “We rested, we figured out who we are as people and friends, got together and worked it out.”
