Ears Wide Open: Beat Club

Beat Club has the beats, by golly, and they don’t sound like they came from some computer application. The new indie-dance trio is a little bit punk, a little bit garage and a heftier amount of disco, with ’80s-vintage bass lines rolling under scratchy guitar riffs. Beat Club is the new collaboration from ex-Low Vs Diamond bandmates Anthony Polcino (who’s also done great things as Soft Pipes) and Jon Pancoast, along with Jeff Kite, who’s played with Julian Casablancas’ band and the Jason Hill project Vicky Cryer. An EP is tentatively planned for the fall. Recommended for dancing, especially if you like to keep your leather jacket on.
