Words and lyrics are nice, but sometimes a picture is worth a thousand ideas. If you’re surprised by the NSFW cover art for “The Haunted Man” (out Oct. 23 on Capitol), the forthcoming album from Natasha Khan – aka Bat For Lashes – you shouldn’t be. Khan has never been one to do anything dull (her hit song “Daniel,” off of 2009’s “Two Suns” was about Daniel LaRusso from “The Karate Kid” after all). However, it seems like the persona for Bat For Lashes has gotten a glamorous makeover since we last saw her. Instead of singing about teenage love, her new single “Laura” is about growing up and reassuring someone else who may not be ready yet. The sophistication is theatrically illustrated in the Noel Paul-directed music video. There is a beauty and a sadness to it, and that combination is something Khan has always been whimsically good at wielding.
