Download: The Mynabirds, ‘Generals’ (and 12 more songs from the Saddle Creek Summer Sampler) Kevin Bronson on July 27th, 2012 Share this:TweetEmail 0 <p>Singer-songwriter Laura Burhenn, the straw that stirs the drink that is Omaha’s <a href="http://themynabirds.com" target="_blank">the Mynabirds</a>, moved quickly from lilting pop to synth-fueled stomp for her band’s sophomore album “Generals,” which came out in June on Saddle Creek. It’s a political album but not a preachy one – “a protest album and a call to arms,” is how it’s advertised. And it works on that level and more. The video for “Disarm” was directed by the album’s producer, <a href="http://richardswift.us" target="_blank">Richard Swift</a>, who increasingly seems to turn up working with artists we love (Damian Jurado, Jessie Baylin, Everest, Gardens & Villa).
