Download: The Mynabirds, ‘Generals’ (and 12 more songs from the Saddle Creek Summer Sampler) Kevin Bronson on July 27th, 2012 Share this:TweetEmail 0 Singer-songwriter Laura Burhenn, the straw that stirs the drink that is Omaha’s the Mynabirds, moved quickly from lilting pop to synth-fueled stomp for her band’s sophomore album “Generals,” which came out in June on Saddle Creek. It’s a political album but not a preachy one – “a protest album and a call to arms,” is how it’s advertised. And it works on that level and more. The video for “Disarm” was directed by the album’s producer, Richard Swift, who increasingly seems to turn up working with artists we love (Damian Jurado, Jessie Baylin, Everest, Gardens & Villa). The Mynabirds’ title track is available via Noisetrade as part of the “Saddle Creek Summer 2012 Sampler” (worth leaving a tip for), along with songs from Maria Taylor, Icky Blossoms, Pujol, Bright Eyes, Cursive and L.A.’s own Big Harp. ||| Download: “Generals” [audio:http://download.themusebox.net/the_mynabirds/generals.mp3] ||| Live: The Mynabirds plays the Satellite on Tuesday. ||| Also: After the jump, use the widget to get the 13-track Saddle Creek sampler: Related
