Although Jillinda Palmer recently celebrated the release of a solo EP, the Damselles & the TC4 are still set out to release a full-length debut. And who wouldn’t be happy about that? When you need some good ol’ fashioned doo-wop with an tight backing rock band (whose name honors former Sea Level Records proprietor Todd Clifford), auto-tune and heavy beats just seem silly when compared to the sassy bounce of Palmer, Maria De Luca and Brittney Westover’s vocals. The new single “Dig Up the Hatchet” grooves in all the right places with heavy keyboard riffs, smooth bass lines and harmonies painting out another saucy tale of love. The Damselles are ones to remind you what the original girl-groups brought to the table. Sometimes you just gotta turn down that hipster fuzz and crank the R&B and funk.
