One of the nifty little vinyl releases that sneaked onto the shelves on Record Store Day was a split 7-inch featuring a previously unreleased song from Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeroes, “Give Me a Sign,” and “Raven’s Song,” a tune off Aaron Embry’s breathtaking album “Tiny Prayers.” We missed it a couple months ago, but both songs were on the Community Music Sampler released free via Alex Ebert’s indie label. Also on the compilation: Cornelius, Soko, Alexander’s collab with The RZA on “Truth” and a song from Christian Letts of the Magnetic Zeroes and Rocco Deluca. We have no idea what happened with the second album Edward Sharpe was supposed to release this year, but the band does have a track on the forthcoming compilation “The Music Is You: A Tribute to John Denver,” coming in February.
