Coachella, you’ve got company.
Desert Daze, a by-the-bootstraps festival that debuted over 11 days last year in Desert Hot Springs, today announced a hallucination-inducing lineup headed up by Saharan rockers Tinariwen and L.A.’s Warpaint. The one-day event on Saturday, April 20 – opposite the second day of Coachella’s second weekend – also features Chelsea Wolfe, the Entrance Band, Night Beats, Lumerians, Jeffertitti’s Nile, Dahga Bloom, Matt Baldwin, JJUUJJUU, Incan Abraham and Death Hymn Number 9.
That’s a lot of pyschedelia for one day, and it goes off at Sunset Ranch Oasis near the town of Mecca, about 15 miles and 28 minutes southeast of the Empire Polo Ground, home to Coachella. Tickets for Desert Daze are $20 for general admission, $35 for GA plus camping and $40 for GA plus lakeside camping.
