If you’re a fan of Robyn, the Knife or Purity Ring, chances are you’ve probably already heard of Chvrches. The Scottish trio, whose members consist of Iain Cook, Martin Doherty and Lauren Mayberry, earned a touring spot with Passion Pit after their song “Lies” seeped onto the Internet last year. But the three are not new as musicians: Mayberry was a co-vocalist/keyboardist for Blue Sky Archives, Cook came from alt-rock bands Aereogramme and the Unwinding Hours, and Doherty’s time as part of the Twilight Sad is perhaps most notable. However, their debut EP as Chvrches, which features heartbreak deliciously disguised in booming synth-pop in songs like “The Mother We Share,” has yet to be released in March 2013 on Glassnote Records.
