Kristina ”˜Teeny” Lieberson was originally the keyboardist for Brooklyn band Here We Go Magic, but ever since she recruited her sister Katharine and Lizzie and friend Jane Herships for her own project, we’ve been hearing more of her psychedelic side. Appropriately naming the band TEEN, these four ladies have been churning out summer ditties drenched in garage-punk undertones and waves of reverb. Their “Little Doods” EP laid the foundation down for their full-length debut “In Limbo” (engineered by fellow ex-Here We Go Magic member Jen Turner, who has resurfaced in L.A. with Thrillionaire), and they’ve recently released their second EP, “Carolina.” The title track is a woozy tune with Liebersen singing in a higher register than normal (to pay homage to both Al Green and Kate Bush), and the second single “Paradise” teeter-totters between a sweet chorus of coos and guitar frenzies. If the exuberance is strangely familiar, it’s because TEEN got a helping hand from producer Daniel Schlett, who also worked on DIIV’s “Oshin.” TEEN’s “Carolina” EP is out now on Carpark Records.
