[Apologies for the radio silence yesterday; I think Buzz Bands’ server problems have been fixed. Here are some delectable options for tonight:]
That band with Jack White in it is getting all the attention, but there are several other newsbies filling my ears with hot-licked blues-rock. Band of Skulls, playing L.A. for the umpteenth time since June behind their new album “Baby Darling Doll Face Honey,” is one of them, and the U.K. trio headlines Spaceland tonight (Useless Keys open). … Mercury Prize nominee Glasvegas [pictured] is back too – the Glaswegian shoegazers, who played the Troubadour and Coachella earlier this year, continue to pile up plaudits for their self-titled debut. Glasvegas is joined by Ida Maria at the Music Box @ Fonda. … Magnolia Electric Co just released another gorgeous album, “Josephine,” and Jason Molina and crew visit the Echo, supported by the Donkeys and Old Californio. … Speaking of gorgeous albums, make room in your budget for “Far,” the latest from Regina Spektor, who playes to a sold-out El Rey Theatre tonight. … Also: Another sold-out night at Gibson Amphitheatre with No Doubt and Paramore; Ebony Bones at Cinespace; Obi Best and Willoughby at the Bootleg Theater; Jesca Hoop and the Chapin Sisters at the Hotel Cafe; the Nights at the Silverlake Lounge; Our Lady Peace at the sold-out Troubadour; Brightmillion at the Dragonfly; Chicago and Earth, Wind & Fire at the Nokia Theatre; and the Mighty Boosh, at Amoeba early and the Roxy later.
