Bassist Matt Maust and his remarkable visuals star (if there is a star) in Cold War Kids’ new video for the song “Water & Power.” Maust, whose collages-on-a-bender and graphic illustrations have graced the band’s (and other artists’) CD and album artwork over the years, does a number on his own room as the video, co-directed by Maust and Steve Ryan, suggests how … well, fluid the artistic process can be. Cold War Kids have used the release of the video to announce that they have a digital EP, “Tuxedos,” on the way Sept. 17; it features three previously unreleased songs and covers of “Aeon” (Antony and the Johnsons) and “You Don’t Come Through (the Band). “Water & Power” comes from the quartet’s fourth album “Dear Miss Lonelyhearts,” which was released in April.
