L.A. rock songstress Jonneine Zapata might be unsigned, but she’s hanging out with the right people. Zapata, whose self-released debut “Cast the Demons Out” remains one of the finest albums to emerge from L.A. this year, will be opening for the Mark Lanegan-fronted Soulsavers on a 15-date national tour in September. Included is a Sept. 10 date at the Troubadour. Soulsavers had a hit in 2007 with the song “Revival” and are returning with a new album, “Broken,” featuring the likes of Lanegan, Jason Pierce, Mike Patton, Gibby Haynes and Richard Hawley joining the production duo of Rich Machin and Ian Glover. Zapata and her band, who have been incorporating some new material in recent sets, are also playing Aug. 13 at the Echo.
Jonneine Zapata is my favorite artist/songwriter/performer at the moment.
She’s truly amazing.
