The Third Man Records and Novelties West Pop-Up Shop – a store that sells all things Jack White – opens this morning at 448 S. Main St., and the Dead Weather themselves are scheduled to play at noon. Fans were camping out Tuesday evening to get into the free show. Not sure how the space is configured, but suffice to say it’s a bustling place this morning. The store’s three-day run: today until 8 p.m. and noon-8 Thursday and Friday.
‣ Festival I: No official announcement yet, but the lineup is taking shape for the annual Eagle Rock Music Festival. Fol Chen, Pocahaunted, the French Semester, Patrick Park, the Amateurs, Andrew Lynch and Jail Weddings, along with vintage local punkers the Gears, are some of the bands confirmed for the neighborhood-y event, set for Oct. 3 along Colorado Boulevard.
‣ Festival II: Speaking of festivals, the recent addition of Dan Deacon, Dillinger Escape Plan and others to the lineup at the Sept. 5 FYF Fest (formerly the F Yeah Fest) at downtown’s L.A. Historic Park makes that $20 ticket price look pretty good. Check out the lineup.
‣ Festival III: This year’s Clean Air Clear Stars Festival at Pappy & Harriet’s in Pioneertown is three weeks earlier than last year’s chilly Ocotber affair, and the Sept. 18-19-20 charity event has a lineup that will have psych-rock fans excited, including the Dandy Warhols, the Morning After Girls, Spindrift, Lower Heaven, the Quarter After, Magic Mirror and the Tender Box.
‣ Going … gone: Sorry to hear that Go West Young Man has called it quits. Frontman Damin Suarez, who released a little gem of a pop album earlier this year, announced suddenly via e-mail that a weekend show in O.C. would be GWYM’s last. Contacted later, Suarez says he “it just wasn’t working out this time. Need some time to re-boot.”
