Liphemra certainly knows how to make an impression. The new musical vehicle for singer-songwriter-drummer Liv Marsico, who dazzled at the new year kickoff FOMO show, today revealed the first song from a DIY mixtape that’s due in February. “Bloodwork” offers a maze of glitchy rhythms and Marsico’s jazz-inflected vocals – a trip-hop/hip-hop/trippier-hop concoction that features Oxnard rapper MED, aka the Stones Throw-affiliated Medaphoar. As Liphemra displayed in recent live outings, she’s working without a template. That’s cause for excitement.
