Phoenix, the Strokes, Interpol and Slowdive – the latter reunited after two decades – have been announced as part of the lineup for FYF Fest, which this year moves to the Sports Arena & Exposition Park from its previous location at Los Angeles State Historic Park.
Slint, Grimes, Real Estate, Haim, Flying Lotus, Blood Orange, Built to Spill, Earl Sweatshirt, Deafheaven and Blood Brothers (first show in eight years) are also playing.
Festival founder Sean Carlson, appearing on KCRW with “Morning Becomes Eclectic” host Jason Bentley, explained that he’s excited to stage an indoor/outdoor event, with one stage inside the 55-year-old Sports Arena and others in the park surrounding the building. “It slowly all came together,” Carlson said of imagining the new footprint of the festival.
Tickets go on sale Thursday, May 22. It’s $129 for a weekend pass.
It is a very good lineup. Will this be their permanent location, or will they go back to the park in Chinatown once it is done being remodeled?
I think they will probably see how it goes here.
Great lineup. I think as long as they can keep the venue(s) near metro train stops it will be a huge success.
