Potty Mouth is an all-female punk quartet, but members Ally Einbinder, Phoebe Harris, Victoria Mandanas and Abby Weems will warn you to be more cautious before slapping the “riot grrrl” label on on them. Hailing from Northampton, Mass., the home of rock heroes like Dinosaur Jr. and Thurston Moore, Potty Mouth’s music is heaven for those who like their C86 melodies and ’77 punk attitude all in one package. That package is Potty Mouth’s debut full-length “Hell Bent,” and although much more melodic than their previously darker, rough-around-edges “Sun Damage” 12-inch EP, new songs such as “Black and Studs” centering around punk philosophies like “just because” are subtly rebellious enough for listeners to follow along. Potty Mouth’s “Hell Bent” is out now via Old Flame Records.
