Ears Wide Open: The Black Tibetans

The Black Tibetans are doing their level best to put the power back in power trio. The band’s taut, straight-ahead rock is the work of Dean Micetich, aka Dinst (ex-the Tough MFs), along with Tammy Raye and Ryan Harrison. After releasing an EP last year that was produced by Dave Catching (Queens of the Stone Age, Eagles of Death Metal), the Black Tibetans convened in Nashville with Dan Auerbach of Black Keys to record a two-song single, “The Nashville Session.” The single “You’re Cold,” with the rhythm section at full throttle and Auerbach chipping in with a guitar solo, plays straight to the biker culture the trio claims as part of its aesthetic. If you abide the notion is that danger is as danger sounds, dust off the leather jacket and turn this one up.
