Yo La Tengo [pictured; download below] are back, behind the release last month of their new album “Popular Songs.” They headline the Avalon tonight. … South African wunderkinds Blk Jks, getting a lot of love for their new album “After Robots,” are at Spaceland, supported by the Growlers and Mack Winston & the Reflections. … Songwriter-producer Daniel Lanois debuts a new project he calls Black Dub – named for a “dub technique I’ve been working on for years,” he says – at the Troubadour. Brian Blade, Daryl Johnson and Trixie Whitley play in Lanois’ current set-up. Check out a studio video here.
