The Peach Kings’ spin on Americana has always been sultry and dark, so it makes sense that the NSFW video for the title track of their “Mojo Thunder” EP is a whirlwind of iniquity. The gripping animation done by the New York-based studio Ataboy, under the direction of Kris Merc and Benjy Brooke, portrays a man looking for his mojo in the worst possible ways. The video’s black-and-white spiral through the protagonist’s underworld perfectly suits the song’s druggy, desperate feel. Here, the Peach Kings – Paige Wood, Steven Dies and Edward Shiers – have found a slice of art-noir to match their blues-noir. More about “Mojo Thunder” on BlackBook, where the video premiered.
