Video: Allah-Las, ‘No Werewolf’

Allah-Las will return Sept. 16 with their sophomore effort “Worship the Sun” via Innovative Leisure. To follow up their 7-inch single “501-415,” the psychedelic garage-rock quartet releases the video for its b-side “No Werewolf.” The tune itself is a cover of a song by the Frantics, but the video is actually the work of Russian sculptor Mikhail Sadovnikov. At first, the video seems like a stagnant image made for bands who just want to throw their songs up on YouTube for the sake of streaming. However, it’s quite the opposite. You see a hand dip into the middle of the circle, and it’s Sadovnikov working clay in a potter’s wheel. The designs he manually creates are intricate and layered just as much as the layers of reverb are in the instrumental tune. As an artist, Sadovnikov calls this “Dance on the Circle,” but as listeners, we’ll most likely be dancing in circle to this rhythmic rendition.
