I’m not sure from whose imagination this video sprang, but Dios’ trippy song “Stare at Wheel” deserved better than some cut-and-paste psychedelia. In fact, the Hawthorne band’s early-2010 “We Are Dios” deserves a better ride than it’s gotten. Worth revisiting. The album, I mean.
This kinda makes everything better. Thanks for the heads-up, Captain.
Therapy Session, the musical brainchild of singer-songwriter Joel Michalak, is pretty good medicine if your tastes lean toward ’90s radio hitmakers, but Michalak’s album “Burning Bridges & Building Walls” finds an even sweeter spot on stripped-down numbers such as “The Other Way Around.” Yes, Michalak’s homemade, guerilla-style video for the song steals its own punchline […]

[Happy birthday, Joan Jett. Now for a busy Thursday night …] Top 5 places to be tonight (at one time, if you’re really good): ‣ Maybe you remember Cloud Cult’s raucous set at Coachella in 2009. Maybe you like to see live painting onstage while a band performs. Maybe you’re heard the Minneapolis art-pop collective’s […]
All I have to say is, “Woof! They’ve done it again.”
For Funeral Party, the young East L.A. dance-punks who seem ready to take the world by storm, the wait must be agonizing. The band turned heads in late 2008, toured supporting the likes of Trail of Dead and Julian Casablancas and finished an album bearing the studio fingerprints of Lars Stalfors (the Mars Volta) and […]
