My favorite cuddly Canadians, Stars, play the Avalon (then make their way to the House of Blues Anaheim on Thursday), and if I weren’t going to be at MBV wearing earplugs as a fashion accessory, I would trot out to hear them so “Elevator Love Letter” and “Ageless Beauty” one more time. … Solarcade opened on the Killers tour early this year, and the local outfit is still working it, headlining the Roxy. … Old faves Sloan rock the Troubadour, and another old favorite, Omaha’s purveyors of waking-dream Americana, Neva Dinova, hold forth at the Silverlake Lounge. … The lineup for Club NME at Spaceland is damn good, too (that’s the Minor Canon, pictured, and Spindrift is playing not far away at the Echo. … And British pop-punks Beat Union play the Knitting Factory.

Radio note: My Buzz Bands show on Little Radio has the week off — which is OK, I suppose, since there might be a couple reasons to peek at a television tonight.
