[He’s Brian Hugh Warner out of makeup, but onstage he’s Marilyn Manson. And he turns 40 today. Happy birthday.]

A new year, a new month, a new batch of those delicious no-cover-charge residencies: Rocco Deluca, whose Daniel Lanois-produced album “Mercy” comes out in March on the Kiefer Sutherland/Jude Cole label Ironworks, kicks things off at Spaceland, supported by Jason Diaz. That’s the video for Deluca’s “Save Yourself,” which, no surprise, found its way onto “24.” … Rising young folkie Robert Francis has Monday duty at the Echo, where Pete Yorn will also be on hand and Seasons is among the supporting acts; and Olin and the Moon holds forth at the Silverlake Lounge, with Marvelous Toy among the others playing. … Local tunesmith Jay Nash is having his Songwriter Round at the Hotel Cafe tonight, and I heard whispers that a very special guest will play the 10:30 slot. More info as I get it. … And down-and-dirty rock ‘n’ rollers the Chelsea Smiles have resurfaced — with a new album in the works, the Todd Youth-fronted quartet kicks off a strong of January dates with a show at the Viper Room tonight.
