Loney Dear‘s new album, “Dear John,” was released in January but for those of you that haven’t gotten to it (or who missed their L.A.show with Andrew Bird), this is for you. Hailing from Sweden, Loney Dear’s frontman” Emil Svanängen and band will make the rounds at SXSW and eventually return to L.A. for a May 16 gig at Spaceland.

New York’s Kip Berman, Peggy Wang, Kurt Feldman and Alex Naidus have teamed up to update the Sarah Records aesthetic as the Pains of Being Pure at Heart.” Their self-titled album, out Feb. 3, is filled with little noise-pop gems like this one.

“Future Primitive” is the new single from the upcoming album, “You Can Have What You Want” (due April 14),” by San Francisco’s” Papercuts. ” Get ready for some analog love on with this album, which is low-fi enough to remind you of decades past and articulate enough to have earned Jason Quever touring gigs with the likes of Grizzly Bear and Beach House.

Don’t be put off by the cumbersome name. Seattle quintet Mt. St. Helens Vietnam Band makes quirky, jangly pop that aims straight for the heart. Their self-titled debut – out Tuesday – was produced by Scott Colburn (Arcade Fire and Animal Collective). The band hits L.A. on March 23 for a date at the Troubadour.

Still no plans for an LA show for Pains Of Being Pure (even though they were in SF last week.) They’ve got the UK covered though. Bah!
