[Happy 40th to Flaming Lips drummer Steven Drozd. Now keep the beat while I run through tonight’s exhausting list of shows:]

aurevoirsimoneGive the Church credit – most bands who are still going concerns at the end of their third decade are just playing greatest-hits sets. The Australian quartet, touring behind a new album, “Untitled #23,” that is almost Floydian in its shimmer, hits the Roxy tonight along with Adam Franklin & Bolts of Melody. … Also visiting from Down Under: Children Collide join Bloodcat Love and the Valley Arena at Spaceland. … Mostly, it’s a night that’ll tie your indie-pop heart in knots, with at least two shows (unless I’m sadly mistaken) drawing from the same fan base. There are Brooklyn darlings Au Revoir Simone [pictured] touting a new album “Still Night, Still Light,” at the El Rey Theatre (with the Antlers); and some of our favorite Glaswegians, Camera Obscura, play behind their new album “My Maudlin Career” at the Music Box @ Fonda. … Pause. On most nights, that’d be a pretty good lineup, but I’m just getting started. … The Echoplex figures to be one big party, with Handsome Furs (with Dan Boeckner of Wolf Parade) headlining and the Monolators supporting. … At the Glass House, there is the rather interesting grouping of She Wants Revenge, Great Northern and Io Echo. … Aushua brings the rock and Butterfly Boucher the pop to the Detroit Bar in Costa Mesa. … Oh, and did I mention it’s an Artwalk Thursday? Downtown will be hopping, with the Monthlies, Casxio and the Nights performing at Edgar Varela Fine Arts (542 S. Alameda); Lemon Sun and others sweetening up the Regent Theatre; and Imaad Wasif joining Hopewell and Dead Meadow’s Jason Simon at the Redwood Bar. … Elsewhere, the Tragically Hip wind up three sold-out nights at the Troubadour; Testament rocks the House of Blues; Star Parts and Random Patterns head up at big lineup at the Silverlake Lounge; Giant State at the Viper Room; the World Record at the Scene; Chris Ayer at the Mint; Chris Velan at Genghis Cohen; and the Rescues at the Hotel Cafe.
