therescuesThe free “Also I Like to Rock” series winds up its run at the Hammer Museum with Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros playing from their recently released album of ’60s-styled anthems, “Up From Below,” joined by local shoegazers Eskimohunter. … If you didn’t check out the new Robert Francis song “Nightfall” when I posted it the other day, head to his MySpace — it’s a taste of what he’ll play tonight at the Roxy. … An excellent night of tunes at Troubadour, with the Rescues [pictured] and Amy Kuney. …  Spirit Animal, the newest incarnation of the music of Steve Cooper (the Gray Kid), holds forth at Spaceland, with support from Robotanists and Tigers Can Bite You. … And if your preferred flavor is old-school Sunset Strip rock, Semi Precious Weapons are in from New York City to begin a three-night stand at the Viper Room. Among the openers: Singapore, a new project involving members of the Vacation. … Also: Eric Hutchinson and Anya Marina at the El Rey Theatre; Saint Motel, Giant State, Links and Klum at Santa Ana’s Yost Theatre; the ShoreBolero and Old Californio at Bordello; Oh Darling at 3 Clubs;  Pit er Pat at Space 15 Twenty; Casiotone for the Painfully Alone at the Echo; Rocco DeLuca earlier in the evening at downtown’s Pershing Square; and Ninja Academy along with San Francisco’s Judgement Day at the Bootleg Theater.
