Food, fun, CDs, prizes at Holidaze on Sunday

CDs-squarePictured at left are bags full of CDs. You remember those things, right? They still make good stocking-stuffers, I’m told. They are the victims of the annual winnowing of the music collection here at shelf-space-starved Buzz Bands LA headquarters. Some are promos, some are store-bought (I frequently can’t remember which is which), and I must be rid of them. [Note: It violates Buzz Bands ethics policy to sell/trade promos to Amoeba.]

So on Sunday night at Buzz Bands LA’s Holidaze at Spaceland, there will be a massive CD grab. Five bucks will get you a small bag that you can stuff with as many CDs as you like – and at the end, I’ll donate the proceeds from the crate-digging to the Pablove Foundation.

Not only that, some of the bands have gotten into the spirit of things – and added a needed dose of humor. We’ll have a charity raffle for the following goodies:

1) Dinner for two cooked by Spirit Animal frontman Steve Cooper (who has skills in the kitchen).
2) A professionally written musician/artist bio by Death Kit frontman August Brown (a professional music writer/journo).
3) A guitar lesson from Spirit Animal/Robotanists’ Daniel De Blanke (who’s classically trained).
4) A walk-on cameo role in the movie “Sweetwater” that films next year (we can explain later).
5) A date with the band Wet & Reckless (should Father Buzz Bands reserve the right to chaperone?).

The evening begins at 8. There will be free appetizers, tunes from the Hell Ya! DJs and a fine night of music, with Spirit Animal (8:45), Death Kit (9:45), Letting Up Despite Great Faults (10:45) and Wet & Reckless (11:45). Admission is free. Come by, say hi, make merry.

Serious fun, but not necessarily serious. Like the flyer.
