Ears Wide Open: Pepper Rabbit

The music of L.A.’s Pepper Rabbit — the duo of Xander Singh and Luc Laurent — clatters with orchestral charm. Think a low-fi (and more organic) MGMT, with vocals that (as Rawkblog accurately notes) recall Mercury Rev’s Jonathan Donahue. The pair released two EPs to iTunes this year, “Clicks” and “Shakes.” Guitars and ukelele, keyboards and horns, sweet and chewy.

Just downloaded “Red Wine.” Will definitely be keeping my ears open for more haunting and dulcet tones from these two!
