The ink is hardly dry on the Von Bondies’ release for Majordomo Records last year, “Love, Hate and Then There’s You,” and now frontman Jason Stollsteimer is on his way to town with a new band, the Hounds Below. The quartet, which includes guitarist Ben Collins, bassist Molly Jean Schoen and and drummer Ben Luckett, delves into the dusty cupboards of pop history for inspiration, with surprising results. “She’s Alchemy” and “Two Step” are more Buddy Holly than the Velvet Underground, and “Crawling Back to You” is a croon right out of a sock hop. The Von Bondies still live, apparently, but the Hounds Below are barking.
