Have to admit it was a dark day at Buzz Bands HQ when Eddie Chacon and Sissy Saint-Marie announced they were relocating their Polyamorous Affair from L.A. to Europe. Their second album “Bolshevik Disco” remains one of the highlights of the Manimal Vinyl catalog, and now they’ve followed it up with “Strange Bedfellows” on Winter Palace Records. Gone, seemingly, is the kitsch in their kitschy-cool synth-pop – on the new album the duo trade off vocals for a more (but not entirely) brooding take on electro that suggests late nights in Berlin cafés. Or maybe I’m just reading too much into those new, shadowy, black-and-white photos.
