[Some mellow stuff in today's three-pack. Enjoy ...]
► Micol Cazzell, “Hollowed Out.” Young Central Valley folkie Cazzell self-released his DIY album “Spinner’s Yarn” this summer. I like this song, and some of my favorite musicians are from Modesto. Hear some more here.
► Fistful of Mercy, “Father’s Son.” Acoustic goodness from the triumvirate of Ben Harper, Joseph Arthur and Dhani Harrison, off their album “As I Call You Down.”
► Low, “Monkey.” This is not a new song. It’s off Low’s gorgeous 1995 album, “The Great Destroyer,” but it’s here as an excuse for me to tell you two things: First, Robert Plant’s covers album, “Band of Joy” (released in September), included a rendition of this song and of Low’s “Silver Rider.” Recommended. Second, Low plays Spaceland on Dec. 15.
