Tonight in L.A.: We Barbarians, Shadow Shadow Shade, Bobby Long, the Black Box Revelation

Tonight’s musical menu:

‣ It’s the final L.A. show for We Barbarians before the Long Beach trio relocated to New York City – they have a new single and big plans. San Diego’s Lesands and O.C. rockers the Union Line support.
‣ There’s a formidable lineup for the first night of Shadow Shadow Shade’s residency at the Satellite – Great Northern, Wet and Reckless and Useless Keys are aboard. That’s Michael Graham’s video for SSS’s “Your Perfect Wilderness,” above; it needs to be viewed full-screen, folks.
‣ British singer-songwriter Bobby Long, who co-wrote “Let Me Sign” (sung by Robert Pattinson in “Twilight”), headlines the Troubadour. Long’s album “A Winter Tale” is just out on ATO, and you can check out/download “Penance Fire Blues” on Spinner. L.A.’s He’s My Brother She’s My Sister supports.
‣ The 1970s return as the Sweet – well, original singer-bassist Steve Priest and musicians he has assembled to play the music – headlines the Echoplex.
‣ And here’s one of those shows I should probably asterisk: Belgian garage rockers the Black Box Revelation have snuck into town and are playing the Viper Room (with Long Beach’s Repeater). BBR’s 2007 album “Set Your Head on Fire” was a great under-the-radar find (I haven’t heard the follow-up), but they are worth a look if you are on the Strip tonight.
