Things to consider to quell those surprise-show anxiety attacks:
► Shadow Shadow Shade continues its residency at the Satellite — I’m fresh out of superlatives for how this band can lift your live — and for Week 2 Le Switch, Chasing Kings and the Hundred Days.
► Futuresounds’ monthly Rumble event moves from 3 Clubs to the Echoplex — the free show features two good up-and-comers, Hands and Letting Up Despite Great Faults.
► Eli “Paperboy” Reed gets all soulful at the Troubadour.
► Local funk merchants Breakestra, joined by Simple Citizens, play the Echo.
► Lovers Drugs, Brooklyn’s Atomic Tom and Maniac play the Bootleg Theater. That’s Lovers Drugs’ video for “Into the Light,” above.
► And it’s a big night of New Orleans music at the Mint: The Voice of the Wetlands All-Stars offers Tab Benoit, Cyril Neville, Anders Osborne, New Orleans’ Big Chief Monk Boudreaux, Johnny Vidacovich and Waylon Thibodeaux.
Not to mention:
Falling Still at the Silverlake Lounge
The Cigarette Bums and Pool Honeys at Lot 1 Cafe
Nasty Souls at the Viper Room
Kodo at Disney Hall
Garfunkel and Oatesat Largo
Ky-Mani Marley at the Roxy
Nick Oliveri at the Show Cave
Secret Sisters and Lelia Broussard at the Hotel Cafe

your comment on Shadow Shadow Shade is very true, but i must say
that the 2/24 show holds the potential for a life changing moment as i can envision SSS with Silverlake Chorus onstage backing them for a few songs being a completely trancentdent moment.
