The wait is on – and long – for Arcade Fire fans

9 A.M. UPDATE: Arcade Fire has confirmed that tickets for their surprise show will go on sale at noon at Origami Vinyl in Echo Park, the El Rey Theatre and Fingerprints record store in Long Beach. Tickets are $30, two per person. The venue will be revealed to successful ticket buyers.

2 A.M. REPORT: Either way, Arcade Fire, this was lousy public relations.

After saying Wednesday that ticket information for a surprise show would not be announced until 9 this morning – “to avoid people sleeping outside” – Arcade Fire on Thursday night issued, via Twitter, three ostensible “clues” as to the location of the sales. They were ZIP codes, along with graphic representations suggesting the location. Fans immediately deduced the locales to be Origami Vinyl in Echo Park, the El Rey Theatre and Fingerprints record store in Long Beach.

Hope those fans are right – temperatures were dipping into the 40s outside Origami on Sunset Boulevard, where at 1 a.m. a line stretched to the end of the block. If they are, Arcade Fire is guilty of breaking its promise to announce the info in the morning. If those fans are wrong, Arcade Fire is guilty of misleading them. The point was, no camping out, right?

For the record, first in line at Origami was Will Sellers (in the middle, with a blanket over his legs). Give him a thumbs-up  @willers – he’s our hero.

Tickets are $30, limit two per person.
