Video: Dante Vs Zombies, ‘Yes, I’m Stalking You’

by kevin on March 9, 2011

The first thing you need to know about Dante Vs Zombies is that Dante is winning. The frontman of the Silver Lake art-punks, Dante White-Aliano (aka Dante Adrian White and a few other bedeviling variations), reliably channels Suede’s Brett Anderson on the sextet’s initial single “Yes, I’m Stalking You.” He gives the tune an edgy retro-glam feel that’s less pronounced on the B-side (“Branded by Nuns”) but makes you wonder what the band has in store for the full-length they have in the works. The six-piece does not lack for experience: White-Aliano, Laena Geronimo and Jeff Ehrenberg played in the (possibly) defunct psych-rock band the Starlite Desperation, who did some good work on the late, lamented Gold Standard Labs label. Gabriel Hart and Jada Wagensomer, both of Jail Weddings, are on board, and with Matt Polley, DVS has something of an all-star swagger. Director Kyle Safieh’s nifty video for “Yes, I’m Stalking” captures some of their cinematic flair. At last report, White-Aliano was working in an Allison Anders movie project. It should be showtime in June when Dante Vs Zombies has the Echo residency.
