Tonight in L.A.: Kisses/the Lonely Forest, the Dears

1

[So I missed all the Thom Yorke-DJing-at-Low-End-Theory excitement last night because I was making plans for Timbaland’s 40th birthday party today. All set now, so here’s what’s up tonight …]

Top 3 shows to consider while waiting for DeVotchKa’s appearance on KCRW’s “Morning Becomes Eclectic:”

‣ The monthly Rumble tour hits the Echo tonight, and it’s a good one. Headliner Kisses have turned into an indie-pop juggernaut, and the Lonely Forest, whose Chris Walla-produced album “Arrows” is out next week, support. That’s the Lonely Forest’s video for “Turn Off This Song and Go Outside” above – a perfect sentiment today, right L.A.? Summer Camp and the Tellers also join in.
‣ Dangerbird Records labelmates the Dears and Eulogies – each with new albums in tow – team up at the Troubadour, with local guys the Tender Box (who have a new album on the way) opening.
‣ And North Mississippi All Stars, whose new album “Keys to the Kingdom” features guest turns from Mavis Staples and Ry Cooder, among others, headline the Roxy.
