Old Californio, “A Cool Place in the Light” – “Sundrunk Angels,” the forthcoming new album from the L.A. quintet, encompasses classic rock and pop, psychedelia and folk/country – overall, kind of a soberer Flying Burrito Brothers. Rich Dembowski’s vocals are better-suited to pop songs, but as with 2009’s “Westering Again” Old Californio has songs that’ll stick with you. The band celebrates the album release with a date at Grand Ole Echo at the Echo on July 17.

Ted Russell Kamp, “California Wildflower” – The longtime Shooter Jennings sideman’s new album is titled “Get Back to the Land,” a collection that traces its sonic lineage to the Band and the Byrds. Sharp, honest and soulful. He marks his album release June 19 at the Echo.

Patrolled by Radar, “Widow Next Door” – You might know frontman Jay Souza from his band 50 Cent Haircut. The band’s first album “Be Happy,” is just out on Knitting Factory Records, and they celebrate with a show this Sunday at the Echo.
