Download: The Postelles, ‘123 Stop’

When the Postelles’ scratchy, infectious guitar pop first made the rounds – and that was last spring – world takeover seemed imminent. The foursome of Daniel Balk, David Dargahi, John Speyer and Billy Cadden were in cahoots with the Strokes’ Albert Hammond Jr., who was producing their music, and the quartet’s shapeshifting garage-pop nuggets and Manhattan lineage had next-big-thing written all over them. Well, some things take time, especially when your record label (Capitol/Astralwerks) gives you walking papers right after your EP is released. [Billboard’s backgrounder here.] Last week, the Postelles’ self-titled album finally came out. “The Strokes meet the Kooks at a sock hop,” we said last year, and we’ll stick with that. Fun, no matter how it got released.
