Premiere: Soft Pipes, ‘Stay Pretty’

by kevin on June 30, 2011

Anthony Polcino emerged from the shadow of his role as guitarist in Low Vs Diamond last autumn, when, doing business as Soft Pipes, he self-released a very good homemade album “When You’re Done Here You Get to Go Home.” Since then, abetted by Christopher Pappas and Miracle Parade, Polcino has assembled a live band and started to stretch out. Soft Pipes’ forthcoming new EP, “Stay Pretty,” represents the songwriter “going for it a little more,” he says, with a bigger sound, grander atmospherics and more sophisticated instrumentation. The change-of-pace chorus in the title track is killer. No release date for the EP yet, but it’s 22 minutes of music worth waiting for.
