Here’s one for the kids: Ukulele-toting songstress Elina makes bright, chipper pop songs that don’t seem to have a cynical bone in their body. The new video for the title track off her recent album “Mesmerized,” released in April, feels like recess (and we could all use that once in a while), with director David Ferino bringing all kinds of whimsical touches to the Hawaii-bred songwriter’s folky confection. New York sports fans may recognize the voice – the 2006 tune “Dream Like New York,” written with her singer-songwriter husband Tyrone Wells, was used as a rallying cry for both the Mets and the Knicks. Her new album offers sugar, spice and everything nice, along with upbeat testimony to the power of her faith.
