Download: Princeton, ‘Clamoring for Your Heart’

With last spring’s “To the Alps” and this week’s digital single “Clamoring for Your Heart,” Santa Monica-bred indie-pop quartet Princeton continues to evolve toward a sleeker, Euro sound that’s not far from Jesse Kivel’s side project Kisses. The spare, brooding new song sounds like something Stephin Merritt would’ve done on the classic “69 Love Songs,” and that’s a very good thing. The foursome – Jesse Kivel and his twin Matt, with Ben Usen and David Kitz, who are working on a sophomore album aimed at an early 2012 release – is hitting the road late this month to participate in Daytrotter’s Barnstormer Tour, which includes gigs in various heartland barns. Watch for those traffic jams in Maquoketa, Iowa.
