Video: Sallie Ford & the Sound Outside, ‘I Swear’

0

Portland, Ore.-based collective Sallie Ford & the Sound Outside has cleverly combined country, rockabilly, blues and soul and spun them with flair, fashioning a batch of songs that won’t be going out of style anytime soon. Although Ford – backed by Tyler Tornfelt, Ford Tennis and Jeff Munger – might look petite, her thunderous voice proves otherwise. As Ford sings “When I turn on the radio / It all sounds the same / What have these people done to music / They just don’t care anymore” in their tune “I Swear” off of their debut album, “Dirty Radio,”  it’s easy to see why Sam Avett of the Avett Brothers quickly became a fan of the band. Boisterous and witty, Sallie Ford & the Sound Outside’s sound has its influences but is nowhere near trend-worshiping despite the decade-appropriate outfits in their video.
