Video: Superhumanoids, ‘Mikelah’

Be still thy teenage heart. The heartbreak of a youthful crush gets over-the-top treatment in the new video for Superhumanoids’ dreamy single “Mikelah.” A young athlete … the school beauty … the agony of defeat. It was directed by the band’s drummer Evan Weinerman, a filmmaker who works as Arms Race. “Cameron [Parkins] and I discussed how the ‘Mikelah’ lyrics speak to a couple, either romantic or platonic, who are caught up in a cycle of treating each other poorly. The inevitability of bringing each other down into a place of despair and loathing, a fairly dark and relatable topic I think,” the director told Spinner.com, where the video premiered Friday. Emotional to the bloody end … (and I think I knew this kid in high school).
