George Lewis Jr., who releases music under the moniker Twin Shadow, has poked his well-coiffed head into new wave, electro-pop and R&B, and has come out groomed to be a pop star. His debut “Forget,” a hybrid of all those genres topped with yearning Morrissey vocals, made a memorable splash in 2010, and he’s well on his way to releasing a follow-up album slated for a release in 2012. His first single, “Changes,” may sound familiar if you’ve ever heard of the ’80s group Baggare and their song “Circus Is Gone.” Twin Shadow’s renaming of the track is an appropriate choice since his take on the italo disco tune is a certainly a nice update. Once again, those smooth vocals come in to give the melody a slinky tone.
